2009 VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION PARTY
The Burlington Library Association, Inc. held a party on May 13, 2009 to honor the dedicated volunteers who helped the library during 2008. These volunteers assisted the staff with a variety of projects and helped the "friends" with fund raising activities. Whereas some volunteers worked a weekly schedule, others stepped forward to help with special projects. Their efforts were often invisible to the library-using public, but are very valuable to the quality of service being offered. The recent party was held to give special thanks to the volunteers listed below:

BOOK SALES: Jenny Mantel - chair, Elaine Eberhard -- upstairs book cart, Alice Taricani, Trudy Coleman, Delores Ravenscroft, Carol Giannattasio, Pat and Tom Small, Nancy Turski, Carol Kallenback, Nancy Monahan, Judy O'Neil, Kathy Zabel and other Association Board members
BAKE SALES: Nancy Winter - chair, Samantha Sebastian, Elaine Eberhard, Pat Small and Anne Walluk, and all the dedicated bakers
CHILDREN'S SUMMER READING AND PROGRAMS: Craig Amasya, Julia Jarmoszko, Sara Kozlu, Alex Lopez, Jeanne Lowrey, Michelle Meheran, Bryce Rudiak, Erin Rudiak and Liz Spring

The Association, also known as the "Friends of the Library," was organized in the 1960's for the purpose of raising money to help the Burlington Public Library build a new building. The organization also played a significant role in raising money to support the renovation and expansion of the existing library which will celebrate fifteen years in October. This non-profit organization conducts a membership drive each year with members reaching over 200. The Association Board is represented by president Len Berton, vice-president Nancy Winter, treasurer Sandy Mazeau, secretary Anne Walluk, Pat Miller, Pat Small, Jenny Mantel, Elaine Eberhard and Kecia German, Ed Krewalk., along with Library Director Marie Spratlin Hasskarl and honorary board member Bob Merriman.
